John Dexter: Chorus Master

Chorus Master The title Chorus Master suits me grand, Ringmaster might be even better, lining up the elephants in the musical circus, putting you through your paces. I've been given a whip, a piano, and now this year a special podium for extra height. At 1930 hours on alternate Mondays I go into battle: minims and semiquavers fly in all directions. "Copies up, eyebrows up, tummies in, throats relaxed, sing with all your might!"

There's nothing quite like the sight of the Dublin County Choir at work. Each and every member manages to leave the daytime cares outside the room and latch onto the job in hand, whether it be Bach, John Lennon or Johann Strauss. I never cease to be amazed by their professionalism and good humour.
