  The Dublin County Choir was founded by Eamonn Kealy in 1976;-
  · To provide new opportunities for singers of all ages.
· To perform a wide range of choral music.
· To encourage young singers and composers.

The choir, consisting of 120 members, has built up an impressive repertoire ranging from Brahms to Beatles. It consists of opera and opera choruses, carols and Christmas music and great Classical works such as Brahms, Verdi, Fauré, Mozart, and Rutter Requiems, Beethoven's Mass in C, Mass in D (Missa Solemins), Haydn's The Seasons, Vaughan Williams Sea Synphony, O'Riada's Nomos No.2, and Purcell's Dido and Aeneas.

Modern music performed is that of Beach Boys, The Carpenters, Paul Simon, Michel Legrand, Scott Joplin, and the Beatles.

The choir also encourages and sponsors young singers, dancers and composers by involving them in their concerts and by commissioning special compositions and arrangements.

The choir has taken part in over 100 concerts in the National Concert Hall, Dublin, and on Radio and TV in Ireland, the UK and Germany. Their CD "Let the Bells Ring" which is a selection of Christmas music and the annual Christmas Concerts has become very popular. The choir entertains an audience of approximately 4,000 people each year.

  Membership
  Auditions are arranged with the Musical Director, or Chorus Master throughout the year and new members are always welcome. Membership is not limited to those who read music as learning tapes are provided and every encouragement is given to those who wish to learn choral skills and improve their singing ability.
  Organisation 
 

The Dublin County Choir is a non profit community group administered by a voluntary committee elected by its members and consists of Chairperson, Secretary, Assistant Secretary Treasurer, Music Librarian, Social Events Officer. To assist the committee each section of the choir has its own elected representative.

 
  Rehearsals
   Rehearsals take place on Monday evenings from 7.30 to 10 p.m. at St Tiernan's Community School, Parkvale, Balally, Dublin 16, as part of the community based vocational activities accommodated at the school.
  Social Activities
  Friendship is the hallmark of choir membership and leads to many social events, such as, the rehearsal "Tea Break", informal get-togethers after rehearsals, post-concert socials, an annual Christmas party, and organized visits to other choir concerts and charitable events.
  Joint Ventures
  The choir has performed on many occasions in joint ventures with civic and local authorities as well as other choirs.
